Janie's work has natural and human history as it's subject. The work explores how these elements collide in museums, objects, folklore and landscape. The distance of time can be felt in the open spaces of the forest and sky as well as a shell or 18th century shoe. The wealth of forms found in the natural environment feed the imagination and provide a sense of wonder. There a sense of continuity in familiar outlines of trees and plants.
Janie is committed to the practice of drawing and has taught drawing to many, many students over the last twenty years. She makes prints, paintings and drawings.
